Anemones
General Info
A poppylike flower. The name Anemone comes from Greek and roughly means wind flower, which signifies that the wind that blows the petal open will also, eventually, blow the dead petals away. In Greek mythology, the anemone symbolized the bloody death of the Greek god Adonis.
Care and Handling
- Allow room in arrangement for flowers to open.
- Good for vase arrangements, but not with daffodils (narcissus) as their exudate may clog anemone stems.
- To get the most of your flowers, use a floral preservative (also known as flower/plant food) recommended by your florist. Be sure to follow the instructions from your florist or the instructions on the floral preservative packet. Improper dosage of flower preservative can cause damage to your anemones.
Average Lifespan
- The average vase life of anemones lasts between 5 to 8 days.
Seasonal Availability
- Most varieties are available during the months of January through April. Shop Anemones on Plantshed.com.
