Description

Large Mateo Haworthia

[ Height: 8" - 9" | Diameter: 5" - 6" ]
A baby Haworthia succulent is planted in a speckled ceramic pot with a seafoam green band. Plants in the Haworthia genus are mostly small, low-growing succulents with a distinctive look. Many varieties are covered in white bands or warts, giving them the appearance of animal hide. Place in bright indirect light or a space that receives a few hours of morning sun. Check the soil for dampness once a week. If dry, add about a quarter cup of water, keeping in mind that any excess will build up in the bottom and should be avoided. Water should be applied to soil, not to the plant itself.

Plants make great gifts for any occasion. Send some green with PlantShed, hand-delivered to NYC + NJ, 7 days a week.

Care Guide

Water

Allow soil to mostly dry out between waterings. Pour water on soil, not the plant's rosette.

Light / Temperature

As with most succulents, Haworthias grow best in full sun or partial shade. In hot summers, more shade may be necessary.

Pruning

Prune damaged areas by cutting to the base. To propagate, cut offset pups from the parent plant and allow to dry 24 hours before repotting.

Level of Care

Easy! Just place in bright sunlight and don't overwater.

Soil

Use a well-draining cactus/palm potting mix.

Pet Friendly

Yes! Haworthias generally pose no risk if consumed by pets.

Air Purifying

Haworthias remove toxins that can build up in indoor spaces. A general rule of thumb is 1 medium houseplant per 100 square feet of space effectively cleans the air we breathe.

fertilizer-plant-guide-icon
Fertilizer

Feed with a mild cactus fertilizer about once a month during the growing season. Do not fertilize in winter.

Temperature

Warm temperatures are best during the growing season. Plants enjoy cool temperatures down to 55°F in the winter.
